Substituted imidazoles as corrosion inhibitors for N80 steel in hydrochloric acid

363-370Three synthesized imidazole derivatives, namely 1-[hydrazinyl(4-methoxyphenyl)methyl]-1H-imidazole [HMPMI], 1-[hydrazinyl(phenyl)methyl]-1H imidazol [HPMI] and 1-[hydrazinyl(chlorophenyl)methyl]-1H-imidazol [HCPMI] have been used as corrosion inhibitors for N80 steel in 15% HCl using weight loss, electrochemical polarization, AC impedance and SEM techniques. The results show that the inhibition efficiency of all inhibitors increases with the increase in inhibitors concentration.
