Synthesis of 1,3,4-thiadiazole, 1,2,4-triazole and 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives containing 1-(<i>p</i>-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl moiety

15-192-Aroylamino-5-[1-(p-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl]-1,3,4-thiadiazoles 3a-e and 3-[1-(p-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl]-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione 4 have been synthesized by the cyclization of 4-aroyl-1-[1-(p-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazole-4-carbonyl]thiosemicarbazides 2a-e with conc. H2SO4 and 2N NaOH solution, respectively. Moreover, 2-aryl-5-[1-(p-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl]-1,3,4-oxadiazoles 7a-e have been obtained by the direct condensation of 1-(p-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazo le-4-carbohydrazide with aromatic acids in the presence of POCl3.
