287-294Paper discusses the Copyright Act, 1957 along with its important provisions. Two new treaties — the WIPO Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty- are the latest attempts to provide effective protection to the rights of authors/owners of copyright and neighbouring rights in the wake of modernization of technology. A brief summary of the deliberations of the Diplomatic Conference on the issues which evoked lot of intense discussion during the finalization of these Treaties is given
