810-814The cavity formation energy (CFE) which is equivalent to the free energy cost of insertion of a hard sphere solute in a hard sphere solvent has been calculated for fluorobenzene, chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, iodobenzene, nitrobenzene. Toluene and fluid mixtures at 298.15 K. The solubility of non-polar gases He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe in halo-benzene, nitrobenzene, toluene and fluid mixture has been determined on the basis of this CFE. The results agree well with the experimental values of solubilities and molar free energies of solution. The method has also been used to calculate physico-chemical properties of solvent molecule.
