Role of modern technologies in purification of water

63-69It is a universal fact that after air, water is the most important requirement of the human beings. The availability and purity of water happens to be a major cause of concern in India amongst all the developing countries. In few last decades, factors like rapid urbanization and industrialization, better and more precise identification of contaminants due to improved technical capabilities and finally, increasing stress on the water resource systems have presented numerous challenges before the conventional water treatment technologies. In view of the above, few modern technologies like Membrane filtration, Nanotechnology and Micro/Nano bubbles present a better alternative for water treatment. This research paper presents a brief review of the aforementioned technologies. It is expected that the advantages offered by these technologies would allow them to be used over a much larger scale in the near future
