Solvent-free synthesis of 2-alkyl and 2-alkenylbenzothiazoles from fatty acids under microwave irradiation

601-605Rapid and efficient condensation of 2-aminothiophenol with various fatty acids under microwave irradiation in solvent-free conditions with or without P₄S₁₀ is carried out to afford the corresponding 2-substituted benzothiazoles. The one-pot synthesis is obtained in high purity, good yield of products and in short span of time in presence of catalyst under MW irradiation.
