This paper presents a new modulation method for matrix converters control, based on Sigma-Delta modulation. The method employs a Sigma-Delta modulator, equipped with a quantizer with time-variable reference levels. A new filter type is also presented that reduces filter quality factor with losses that are present only at resonance
