This workshop paper presents our contribution for the task of acoustic scene classification proposed for the “detection and classification of acoustic scenes and events” (D-CASE) 2016 challenge. We propose the use of a convolutional neural network trained to classify short sequences of audio, represented by their log-mel spectrogram. In addition we use a training method that can be used when the validation performance of the system saturates as the training proceeds. The performance is evaluated on the public acoustic scene classification development dataset provided for the D-CASE challenge.
