Many studies are currently being developed on mechatronic systems aiming at the enhancement of vehicles' safety and performances (steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, drive-by-wire); their success is based on an integrated design of car's mechanics and control systems and therefore proper dynamic modelling tools are strongly needed, so as to allow virtual prototyping by means of computer simulation.
