The regulation currently in force of the economic and monetary policy of the European Union will not substantially be modified by the constitutional treaty. According to the Draft Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe the exclusive competence for European Central Bank, whereas the competence for economic policy lies with the Member States. After a short description of the relevant provisions of the Draft Treaty devoted to the economic and monetary policy, the article outlines the most important innovations to the discipline presently in force
