Department of Chemistry, 2018.Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have unique electronic and optical properties due to the one-dimensional confinement, whereby strongly bound electron-hole pairs, i.e. excitons, play a very important role. Well-isolated SWCNTs display stable and robust photoluminescence (PL) in the near infrared (NIR), which depends on the SWCNT diameter and chirality. Previously, it has been discovered that the PL from DNA-wrapped SWCNTs can be enhanced by up to an order of magnitude upon addition of small molecular reducing agents to the SWCNT suspension.
