In the field of steel degassing and ladle metallurgy Leybold-heraeus offers the entire line of processes and equipment that are known today. The paper reviews all these techniques with a particular emphasis towards equi-pment that incorporates special design features which are derived from the extensive know-how of Leybold-Heraeus in electro- and vacuum-metallurgical processing. Furthermore, a classification is given as to which processes are most suitable or preferable for the different production methods of specific steel grades
