X-ray diffraction data and lattice constants of alpha, beta and electro-deposited gamma manganese have been presented. The transformation characteristics on quenching from high temperatures and transformation of electro-deposited gamma to alpha manganese at room temperature have been studied and the results are compared with those of early workers. Rapid quenching of gamma and delta mang-anese from its temperature ranges of stability yielded only beta manganese
