AFTER the completion of the Third Five Year Plan, India today stands committed to yet another Five Year Plan in order to fully develop and industrialise by exploiting its vast potential of natural and manpower resources. The fast developing industrialisation of the country has naturally involved the increasing usage of common metals including iron, steel, copper,aluminium and their alloys in quantities ranging from thousands to million tonnes in the form of heavy machinery, huge factories, transport vehicles, railways and their accessories, various stru-ctures, engineering and electrical equipment and myriads of consumer articles fabricated from the common metals & their alloys
