A study has been made to investigate the corrosion resistance performance of different types of galvanised coatings on steel surface. Salt spray, copper sulphate dip tests, potentiodynamic polarization and potential-time studies have been performed to characterize the corrosion behaviour of the coatings. Galvanealed coating exhibits least rate of self-dissolution in chloride media but performs poorly in protecting the steel galvanically. It is observed that the incubation period required for the onset of white rusting on galvanized coatings determines the durability of the coatings
