While existing persimmon productivity in Indonesia has been gradually decreasing because of improper cultural practices and environmental conditions, species conservation has become increasingly crucial given its benefit to human health. Genetic identification of the persimmon (Diospyros kaki), the type found in Indonesia, would provide valuable genetic information about this persimmon cultivar. Nine selected random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) primers successfully yielded 32 polymorphic bands and 20 monomorphic bands.
