Power generation plants need to produce electricity on a continuous rate to cater for the electricity demand of the public. The performance of the power generation plant could be evaluated in terms of its availability. By performing reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) study, the performance of the power generation plant could be investigated. By using the failure and repair data of the power plant, Monte-Carlo simulation was conducted to predict the performance of the power plant system for the next 25 years. From the simulation, the system uptime and downtime duration, system availability, failed components list, spare parts list, and labor costing were obtained.
