This study centred on the implementation of a national core standard for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) personnel, especially teachers, in Malaysian TVET institutions. The descriptive and open-ended survey method was adopted for the study and the structured interview was used to collect data from respondents in Malaysia. The findings show that the major competencies of the TVET Teacher Standard comes from a comprehensive certification called the Vocational Training Operation (VTO) which was created specifically for TVET teachers.
