There have been concerns about the growing number of children living in residential homes in Malaysia. The objective of this study was to determine the presence of depression and its association with the socio-demographic, personal characteristics and coping skills of adolescents residing in fourteen residential homes in Kinta Valley, Perak. A total of 235 adolescents participated in the study.
