A study has been done to assess the technical potential of Malaysian waste cooking oil (WCO) as alternative feedstock for biodiesel production in the island of Langkawi Malaysia. Biodiesel is a domestic, renewable fuel for diesel engines derived from vegetables oil, which meets the specifications of ASTM D 6751. The use of WCO as a resource for biodiesel production not only appreciating the function of fresh cooking oil in the food chain, but it will also contribute to a better management of the waste oil from polluting the environment.
