This research paper study the effects of various attenuations on the free space optical (FSO) transmission systems which are the geometrical attenuation, atmosphere attenuation, sensitivity and system loss in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia region. A completed FSO transmission system link has been modeled using OptSim software. The software is also used to simulate the data and analyze the performance of the system. The effect of haze attenuation is selected for atmosphere conditions and the data for visibility on September 2007 are obtained from Malaysia Metrological Department (MMD) following the ITU-R standards which are ITU-R P.1814 and ITU-R P.1817.
