Muslim legacy in ulum al-Qur\u27an

The âUlum al-Qurâan is a science that contributes to the proper understanding of the message of the Qurâan. Having gradually developed based on the earliest Islamic sources it serves as the primary guideline for historical, technical, linguistic, stylistic, jurisprudential, interpretative and exegetical issues in the study of the Qurâan. Hence, this article presents a brief analysis of the origin and development of the âUlum during the era of the Companions, the Successors, and the Followers of Successors. It also takes stock of the works and evaluates the Muslim scholarship in the field. In addition, it explores the development and codification of various intra-related branches of the âUlum and highlights the contemporary Muslim contributions to this science
