We describe a program STATSEARCH which implements the method of Mott et al. (1989) for searching DNA and protein sequence databanks for statistically significant similarities to a given query sequence. STATSEARCH is written to run in conjunction with the GCG sequence analysis package
MOTIVATION: Database search programs such as FASTA, BLAST or a rigorous Smith-Waterman algorithm pr...
BACKGROUND: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) aim to identify causal variants and genes for com...
It is becoming increasingly important for museums and other scientific collections to quantify the a...
A suite of tests to evaluate the statistical significance of protein sequence similarities is develo...
A method is developed, based on word-searching, which provides a rapid test for the statistical sign...
Sequence comparison has become an essential and standard tool in the analysis of genomic data. Genom...
In this chapter, we discuss the analysis of biomedical, DNA, and protein data. A detailed discussion...
We describe a computer program, named DNA-Protein Search (DPS), for comparing a megabase DNA sequenc...
A comprehensive package of software has been developed to access nucleic acid and protein sequence d...
The efforts by the international genome sequencing projects have resulted in huge and exponentially ...
Background: Despite being a well-established strategy for cost reduction in disease gene mapping, po...
Public-domain availability for bioinformatics software resources is a key requirement that ensures l...
BACKGROUND: In the past years the Smith-Waterman sequence comparison algorithm has gained popularity...
