Emotions such as fear and anxiety are mediated by a neural network containing nuclei like the amygdala, the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis and the periaqueductal gray. Noradrenaline is a neurotransmitter closely connected with the processing of stimuli eliciting these emotions.
