Deciles provide a measure of the spread of rainfall experienced in the past. Rainfall in the current year can be compared against decile information to see where it stands in relation to historical records. The monthly rainfall deciles are calculated by ranking the totals in ascending order, and then splitting the data into 10 equally sized groups. An AMESD / SADC-THEMA product
