The analysis of the translation of phrasal verbs in the novel the princess diaries by Meg Cabot translated by Donna Widjajanto Into Indonesian buku harian sang putri

A phrasal verb consists of a verb followed by one or more words, acting as a single verb unit. It is a verb unit, consisting of a verb and another word or words, with a single meaning. This research that focuses on inseparable phrasal verbs translated into Indonesian. The writer chose a novel as her research object. The original novel is in English; the English version is about 350 pages and 230 pages in Bahasa Indonesia version. In this novel the writer analyzes the inseparable phrasal verbs This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The writer collected the data, analyze them, and then take a conclusion based on the data. The writer uses grammatical and semantical approach. Beside that the writer analyzes the meaning equivalence of the SL and the TL texts. The aim of the research is to find out the phrasal verbs that are well-translated into Bahasa Indonesia. Finding of this study, the writer finds 30 data consisting of data that are appropriately translated into Bahasa Indonesia. The result shows that translation method and meaning equivalence is related to create the best translation and every phrasal verbs have unique meanings. The writer hopes this research will contribute some benefits to others who are intrested in phrasal verb
