An analysis of translation procedures of the presidential speech from Indonesia into english

In this research, the writer focuses the analysis on the translation procedure of Presidential Speech Script Address of the President of the Republic of Indonesian National Development in Regional Perspective before the Special Plenary Session of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia written by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. This research is aimed to find out the procedures used to translate the Presidential Speech. In doing this research, the writer focuses her study on two matters, the first in the translation procedures are used by the translator, and the second is the result of translation (accurate, clarity, and naturalness of translation text in the target language) which were produced by the translator. The writer used qualitative descriptive method by comparing two text the Presidential Speech, the Source Language (Indonesian) and the Target Language (English). And analysis text of President Speech with apply the theory of translation and the writer looks up a reliable dictionary to find out whether the translation is correct or no. In this research, the writer finds that there are some translation procedures. It is contains two transference, naturalization, transposition, modulation, reduction and addition. The writer also found that the translation result of the Presidential Speech is equivalent. Even though there are several less equivalent to translate in target text which are less equivalent in the level of accuracy, clarity, and naturalness. The whole text of the translation result is the equivalent to the target language perspective in order to, the whole text of translation make not awkward and easy to understan
