The aim of this study is to elucidate signal transduction pathways in the grass endophyte Azoarcus sp. BH72. The work comprises two main parts. The first part includes computer based analysis of the Azoarcus sp. BH72 genome and the endophytic metagenome from rice with respect to genes involved in signal transduction and transcription. The second part comprises the experimental investigation of two-component-systems and their role for interaction of Azoarcus sp. BH72 with kallar grass, rice and fungi
