An analysis of commissive illocutionary act on bruce almighty movie transcription

This thesis is aimed at knowing the types of commissive illocutionary acts which occur directly or indirectly. There may be some actions behind the words that someone utters in their conversations. The purpose of this research is to find out a commissive illocutionary act which occurs in the script of Bruce Almighty Movie. The writer watched the movie and studied the scripts of Bruce Almighty as the unit of analysis and the method which used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The writer used random sampling method to collect the data and studied the data which are taken from the scripts of Bruce Almighty Movie. From the two research questions given, the result of analysis shows that there are twenty eight types of commissive illocutionary acts that the writer found in Bruce Almighty movie transcription and the writer analyzed thirteen types of commissive illocutionary acts from twenty eight types of commissive illocutionary acts that the writer found in Bruce Almighty movie transcription.
