an analysis on teaching reading of descriptive text trough jigsaw technique: a case study at the first grade students' of SMP Islam Raudatul Hikmah Pamulang - Tangerang Selatan)

This study is aimed at describing the objective condition about teaching reading descriptive text through jigsaw technique at the first grade students of SMP Islam Raudlatul Hikmah Pamulang. It includes the teaching preparations made by the English teacher, the implementation of teaching reading of descriptive text through jigsaw technique, and the students� achievement in reading of descriptive text through jigsaw technique. This study is categorized as case study research, because it is intended to describe the analysis of jigsaw technique in teaching reading of descriptive text at the first grade students� of SMP Islam Raudlatul Hikmah Pamulang. Besides, this study is included in qualitative research, because the researcher used some numerical data which is analyzed statistically. The subject of this study is an English teacher and supplemented with 20 students which is taken entirely from the first grade. The techniques used in collecting the data are observations, documentations, questionnaires, and test. Based on the research conducted at first grade, VII � A SMP Islam Raudlatul Hikmah Pamulang in academic 2011/2012, it can be concluded that jigsaw technique can increase their students� motivation in reading comprehension. Then, they can read text well, comfortable and have the motivation to read it. Therefore, the students were showed that they can gain high score, especially in English reading. In the pre-test the mean score of students on reading text before research is 62.75. It is the student�s motivation in reading score before they use jigsaw technique. Furthermore, the mean score in the post-test is 69.5. It means that the some students� score are increasing from the previous test (pretest), that is 6.75 (69.5 � 62.75) or 10.75%
