Shift in Indonesiaan into english poetry translation

In the research, the writer analyzes about translation shift found in Indonesian into English poetry translation. The objective of the research is to find out whether the translation shift occurred in translation process affects the meaning of the poem or on contrary, it does not affect the meaning at all. This research focused on Catford?s types of translation shift. The writer analyzes the translation shifts found in the two poems as well as analyzes the meaning equivalence in the TL (Target Language) text. In the research the writer uses descriptive qualitative methods. The result of the research is there are many translation shifts occurred in poetry translation. The meaning of the poem is equivalent with the SL (Source Language) text, although there is a non-equivalent meaning case found
