The representation of American Dream in Atlas Shrugged Film

The purpose of this research is to know the representation American Dream through main characters in the film. The writer uses a qualitative descriptive method in this research in which the data is collected from the dialogue in the script and some pictures in the film, and then the writer analyzed them by using the representation theory. From the analysis, the writer finds that the main characters face many obstacles to acquaire their goals. They represent the American Dream value to solve their problems. The American Dreams are individualism and self-reliant, hardwork and material wealth, the innovatuion and ambition, the equality of opportunity and competition. From the all values of American Dream, the important value is the individualism. Individualism offers another values; they are independent, responsible and appreciating the knowledge. Morever, the main characters are also visioner, good commitment and consistent in their job which are those values make them to be successful person
