This research aimed to develop a didactic sequence proposal involving relational thinking in the discussion of Algebra for the 5th grade of elementary school. For this, we look at current curricular documents, such as: Common National Curricular Base - BNCC (BRAZIL, 2017), the Paraíba Curriculum References (PARAÍBA, 2010), and some authors such as Arroyo (2011), Van de Walle (2009), Ponte (2009) and Farias, Azerêdo and Rêgo (2016).
