The present research aimed at investigating the current marching bands project in the municipality of João Pessoa, which is linked to the Education and Culture Department and implemented through the municipal law No. 7.131, October 5, 1992. The project entitled "Educating children through music" has begun its activities at 11 public schools. In 2017, during data collection, the project was running in 93 out of 96 public schools, having the teaching of music as an extracurricular activtiy in all of them, mainly through the marching bands.
