Construção do corpo dos números reais via cortes de Dedekind

In this work, we present the notion of Dedekind cuts motivated by the study of the polynomial equation x2 = 2 in the fields of rational numbers. We introduce the operations of addition and multiplication between cuts, as well as the notion of absolute value and order relation between cuts. We prove that the set of Dedekind cuts equippaded with the operations of addition and multiplication is an ordered field. We present the construction of the field of the real numbers by exploring the fact that the field of the Dedekind cuts are ordered and complete.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESNeste trabalho, apresentamos a noção de cortes de Dedekind motivados pelo estudo da equação polinomial x2 = 2 no corpo dos nu´meros racionais. Introduzimos as operações de adição, multiplicação entre cortes, bem como, a noção de valor absoluto e uma relação de ordem entre cortes. Provamos que o conjunto dos cortes de Dedekind munido das operacões de adição e multiplicação possui estrutura de corpo ordenado. Apresentamos a construção do corpo dos números reais explorando o fato de que o corpo dos cortes de Dedekind é ordenado e completo
