Escuta Dicótica em Indivíduos com e sem doença de Alzheimer

Alzheimer disease is defined by a gradual disappearance of memory and other cognitive functions. Essential information on the auditory perception of the patient, from the implementation of behavioral hearing tests, may contribute to the differential diagnosis between AD and other alterations typical of aging. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between auditory perception and Alzheimer disease. A systematic review on the subject and an empirical: two articles were developed. The final sample consisted of the systematic review of 14 articles. After this review study of selected articles, it was found that 21.42% related hearing and Alzheimer disease, pointing to the diversity of behavioral hearing tests that can be used in this population. The second article of the empirical study was attended by 18 seniors, 12 without Alzheimer disease and 6 with the disease. They were submitted to pure tone and speech audiometry and auditory processing evaluation by two behavioral tests: dichotic alternating disyllable test and the dichotic digits test. There was asymmetry of the ears both in non-competitive condition as competitive in the dichotic alternating disyllable test, and the worst results were found in the left competitive in both groups mainly on the competitive left the group with Alzheimer. It was also observed that both dichotic tests showed similar results. The use of central auditory tests can aid in the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease and contribute to understanding the changes that occur in central auditory function during the aging process.A doença de Alzheimer define-se por um desaparecimento gradativo de memória e de outras funções cognitivas. Informações imprescindíveis sobre a percepção auditiva do paciente, provenientes da execução de Testes auditivos comportamentais, podem contribuir para o diagnóstico diferencial entre a DA e outras alterações próprias do envelhecimento. Este estudo teve o objetivo de investigar a relação entre a percepção auditiva e a doença de Alzheimer. Foram desenvolvidos dois artigos: um de revisão sistemática sobre o tema e um empírico. A amostra final da revisão sistemática se constituiu de 14 artigos. Após este estudo de revisão dos artigos selecionados, verificou-se que 21,42% relacionavam audição e Doença de Alzheimer, apontando para a diversidade de avaliações auditivas comportamentais que podem ser utilizadas nesta população. O segundo artigo do estudo empírico contou com a presença de 18 idosos, 12 sem doença de Alzheimer e 6 com a doença. Os mesmos foram submetidos à audiometria tonal e vocal e a avaliação do processamento auditivo por meio de dois testes comportamentais: Dicótico de dissílabos alternados e o teste Dicótico de dígitos. Ocorreu assimetria das orelhas tanto na condição não competitiva como na competitiva do teste dicótico de dissílabos alternados, e os piores resultados foram encontrados na esquerda competitiva de ambos os grupos principalmente na esquerda competitiva do grupo com Alzheimer. Observou-se também que na população estudada os dois testes dicóticos utilizados apresentaram resultados compatíveis. A utilização de testes auditivos centrais pode auxiliar no diagnóstico da doença de Alzheimer e contribuir para a compreensão das mudanças que acontecem nas funções auditivas centrais durante o processo de envelhecimento
