Fitness-for-service (FFS) assessment is a quantitative engineering evaluation of operational components. In the context of pressure vessels and piping systems FFS assessment is performed periodically to ensure the operational safety and structural integrity. The evaluation of structural integrity of equipment is crucial to avoid failure and thereby obtain the best possible performance of mechanical components under corrosion, in turn, is one of the greatest dangers to pressure vessels.
