This work starts with the presentation of the concept of at gures closed polygonal area. Respecting the historical aspect, we display the method of exhaustion, proposed by Archimedes, with concentration in the areas of circular regions bounded by parabolic curves. Arriving near the modernity we introduced the concepts of limit, continuity, derivative and integrals converging on the so-called Fundamental Theorem of calculus and its application in the calculation of areas in a more friendly than the method of Archimedes.
