In the veterinary ophthalmology area, there are few published reports of ocular conditions affecting nonhuman primates. This case report describes the occurrence of nuclear cataract and arcus senilis in both eyes of an elderly Capuchin monkey (Sapajus libidinosus), kept in captivity at the IBAMA's Wild Animal Sorting Center (CETAS), in Cabedelo - PB. After adequate physical and chemical restraint, ophthalmic examination was performed with a magnifying glass and a flashlight, Schirmer's tear test for evaluation of tear production per minute (mm / min), aplanation tonometry for determination of intraocular pressure (IOP) in mmHg and ocular surface analysis composed by the study of bacterial microbiology and conjunctival cytology.
