FATORES RELACIONADOS À ENTRADA E SAÍDA DE ANIMAIS AO CENTRO DE VIGILÂNCIA AMBIENTAL E ZOONOSES DE JOÃO PESSOA, PARAÍBA

The objective of this study was to collect data to obtain knowledge about the factors related to the entry and exit of animals from the Center for Environmental Surveillance and Zoonoses (CVAZ) of João Pessoa - PB, through a retrospective study. We studied the data for the period from January to December of 2015, through the verification and analysis of CVAC’s work sheets to register receipt, collection, euthanasia and adoptions. Among the analyzed data, it was observed that the main reasons for receiving animals were: abandonment on streets (12,17%), abandonment in CVAZ (6,58%), waiting for results for visceral canine leishmaniasis (3,98%) and return after adoption at CVAZ (2,73%). The collection of animals was mainly due to: positive result for the rapid test of LVC (14,22%), trampling (13,60%), aggressiveness (10,10%), weak condition (7,70%), and court order (4,38%). The euthanasia was motivated by: positive test result for LVC (ELISA) (29,70%), distemper (22,59%) and neoplasms (8,57%). It was also observed that in 12,63% of the cases the animals died before the euthanasia. Regarding the adoption, it was verified that the life stage of predilection for adoption (70%) was between 0 and 3 year-old-animals (puppies and young animals). The amount of information that has not been filled in the forms made it difficult to fully understand the situation; however, Indicative of responsible guard failure were found and with that, It was concluded that among the various reasons that determine the entry and exit of dogs and cats from the CVAZ, prevailed the poor education of society about the concepts of responsible guard and its application.O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar levantamento de dados para obter conhecimento sobre os fatores relacionados à entrada e saída de animais do Centro Vigilância Ambiental e Zoonoses (CVAZ) de João Pessoa - PB, por meio de um estudo retrospectivo. Foram estudados os dados referentes ao período de janeiro a dezembro de 2015, por meio da verificação e análise das fichas utilizadas pelo CVAZ para registrar recebimento, recolhimento, eutanásias e adoções. Entre os dados analisados, observou-se que, os principais motivos de recebimentos de animais foram: abandono na rua (12,17%), abandono no CVAZ (6,58%), espera pelo resultado do teste para a leishmaniose visceral canina (LVC) (3,98%) e devolução após adoção no CVAZ (2,73%). O recolhimento de animais se deu, principalmente, por: resultado positivo para o teste rápido de Leishmaniose Visceral Canina (14,22%), atropelamento (13,60%), agressividade (10,10%), condição de debilidade (7,70%) e ordem judicial (4,38%). A realização da eutanásia foi motivada por: resultado positivo no teste para LVC (ELISA) (29,70%), cinomose (22,59%) e neoplasias (8,57%). Observou-se ainda que em 12,63% dos casos ocorreu o óbito do animal antes da realização de eutanásia. Com relação à adoção, verificou-se que a fase de vida de predileção para adoção (70%) foi de animais entre 0 e 3 anos (filhotes e jovens). A quantidade de informações não preenchidas nas fichas dificultou um completo entendimento da situação, porém encontraram-se indicativos de falha da guarda responsável e com isso, concluiu-se que, entre os diversos motivos que determinam a entrada e saída de cães e gatos do CVAZ, predominou a educação deficiente da sociedade acerca dos conceitos sobre guarda responsável e sua aplicação
