This study aims to develop a heterogeneous catalyst to obtain biodiesel from cottonseed oil. Most of the energy consumed in the world comes from oil, coal and natural gas. With the depletion of energy sources, specifically fossil energy, especially its inability to renewal, it has motivated the development of technologies that allow the use of renewable energy sources. Biodiesel can be treated as one of the main alternatives of renewable energy. Thus, the study carried out to characterize the ash derived from burning of sugarcane bagasse by X-ray fluorescence using the X-ray signals to excite an unknown sample.
