PENERAPAN INTERVENSI MENGULUM ES BATU TERHADAP PENURUNAN RASA HAUS PADA PASIEN GAGAL GINJAL KRONIK YANG MENJALANI HEMODIALISA DI RSUD TIDAR KOTA MAGELANG

Background: Hemodialysis is currently the most chosen renal replacement therapy. Dialysis function to overcome fluid imbalances and help control kidney disease and improve the quality of life for CKD patients. Hemodialysis is ideally done 10-12 hours per week to achieve adequacy. Patients usually undergo hemodialysis 2-3 days a week with a duration of 3-5 hours of hemodialysis, meaning that when the patient does not undergo hemodialysis in the days between the two times dialysis the patient will experience problems with fluid buildup in the body. If the fluid is not maintained or there is excess fluid between dialysis sessions, it will have an impact in the form of weight gain, and edema. However, limiting fluid during hemodialysis can cause thirst. Thirst can result in patients not adhering to a diet limiting fluid intake so that patients experience excess fluid or overhydration. Excess fluid can occur due to excessive fluid intake due to not being able to withstand thirst. Thirst must be managed or controlled so that patients adhere to the diet limiting fluid intake. Various studies show that thirst management interventions can be done, one of which is to suck ice cubes.Objective: To analyze the cases of managed in CKD stage 5 patients with innovative intervention to suck ice cubes to reduce thirst in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis in Hospital Tidar of Magelang City.Method: The design of this study uses a case study with 4 respondents to be given intervention with a pre and post test design in the intervention group.Result: There was a significant effect of thirst level before and after the intervention to suck ice cubes for 5 minutes (p-value 0.002) because ice water that melts and the cold taste of ice can freshen the mouth and throat.Conclusions: th
