EFEKTIFITAS ANTARA KOMPRES HANGAT DENGAN RENDAM HANGAT TERHADAP PENURUNAN INTENSITAS SKALA NYERI PADA LANSIA DENGAN ARTHRITIS GOUT DI RUMAH PELAYANAN SOSIAL LANJUT USIA (RPSLU) PUCANG GADING SEMARANG

Background: Joint pain is one form of clinical manifestation of gout arthritis that will cause sudden onset of extraordinary swelling and pain, usually in the joints of the toes and metatasofalangeal joints. Non-pharmacological pain relief measures include cutaneous stimulation, which is giving skin stimulation to relieve pain by warm soaking or with warm compresses. Cutaneous stimulation techniques are introduced as one simple, practical and safe way to reduce pain.Objective: To know the effectiveness between warm compress and warm soak in reducing the scale of pain in elderly with gout arthritis at Rumah Seni Seni Pucang Gading Semarang.Method: Quasy Design Experiment with two groups pre test - post test without control group. As respondents are elderly who live in Pucang Gading Seni Rumah Sosial Sosial Semarang who have experience of arthritis gout pain scale 4-6. A total of 34 elderly people who had met the inclusion criteria and had signed Informed Consent respondents were treated with cutaneous stimulation techniques, warm compresses and warm soak to measure the decrease in joint pain scale (gouty arthritis). Pain intensity was observed and measured using the NRS pain scale.Result: Average decrease of group pain scale of warm compress 2.18 and mean of decrease of pain scale of warm wading group 2,72 with p = 0,005.Conclusion: Warm soak is more effective in lowering the intensity of the pain scale rather than warm compresses.Suggestion: Apply warm soak as a non-pharmacologically complementary therapy to reduce intensity of perceived pain scale
