PROSEDUR PEMERIKSAAN MRI OTAKDENGAN DIAGNOSA EPILEPSIDI RUMAH SAKIT UMUM DR.SOETOMO SURABAYA

ABSTRACTBackground : MRI examination protocol with epilepsy at Radiology Unit of Dr. Soetomo Hospital uses Sagital T2 sequence, Axial T2 PROPELLER, Axial T1, Axial T2 FLAIR, DWI B1000 R / L + Shim, Coronal T2 FSE 3mm, Axial T2 FLAIR 3mm, Coronal FSPGR 3D, and Multivoxel MRS 16x16. The aim of this research is to know the procedure of MRI examination of brain with epilepsy, and to find out the reason of the use of T2 FLAIR sequence, and Coronal sequence of FSPGR 3D.Methods : The research is a qualitative case study by using direct observation, in-depth interviews with radiologists and referring physicians. Data were analyzed by using Interactive Model which is done with stages ranging from observation, reducing data, then followed by data presentation.Results : The results showed the procedure of brain MRI examination in epilepsy in Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya includes patient screening, patient preparation, preparation of equipment and materials and selection of epilepsy sequences used, for Brain MRI examination with epilepsy, the sequences are Sagital T2, Axial T2 PROPELLER, Axial T1, Axial T2 FLAIR, DWI B1000 R / L + Shim, Coronal T2 FSE 3mm, Axial T2 FLAIR 3mm, Coronal FSPGR 3D, and Multivoxel MRS 16x16.Conclusion : T2 FLAIR is to find out the abnormalities, e.g : sclerosis which is hyperintense. And Coronal FSPGR 3D is to measure volume of hippocampus
