PENGARUH PEMBERIAN AROMATERAPI LAVENDER TERHADAP PENURUNAN INTENSITAS NYERI HAID PADA REMAJA PUTRI DI SMA NEGERI 5 SEMARANG

Pain during mesntruation is gynecological complaint that causes discomfort in daily physical activity. The prevalence dysmenorrhea in Indonesia experienced by adolescents is 64.25% consisting of 54.89% primary dysmenorrhea and 9.36% secondary dysmenorrhea. Management menstrual pain in non-pharmacology, one of them with relaxation techniques using lavender aromatherapy.The purpose of this study to determine the effect of lavender aromatherapy on decreased intensity of menstrual pain in adolescent girls in SMA Negeri 5 Semarang.Type of research is quasi experimental with pre test and post test with control group design. The population in this study is the students of class XI SMA Negeri 5 who experienced menstrual pain. This research using purposive sampling technique obtained sample of 40 respondents. Lavender aromatherapy is given by inhalation for 30 minutes done 2 days by giving 3 drops of lavender oil with 100 ml of water into the vaporizer. The research instrument was a VDS (Verbal Description Scale) pain scale observation sheet. Data analysis using Mann-Whitney test and Friedman test.The results showed that there was a significant difference between the intensity of pain before and after given lavender aromatherapy in respondents who experienced primary dysmenorrhea with p value = 0.001 which means there is influence giving aromatherapy lavender to decrease intensity of menstrual pain. From the results of this research adolescents who experience menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) should using lavender aromatherapy to reduce the intensity of menstrual pain as an alternative treatment that easy to do and practical
