HUBUNGAN PERILAKU IBU TENTANG PELIHARA DIRI KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT ANAK DENGAN KEJADIAN KARIES GIGI PADA SISWA SD NEGERI SENDANGMULYO 04 SEMARANG TAHUN 2017

Dental caries is a dental tissue disease characterized by tissue damage, starting from the tooth surface extending towards the pulp. Dental caries can be influenced by various factors one of them is the behavior toward the maintenance of oral and dental health. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mother's behavior about self-care of oral and dental health of children with dental caries events in the students of State Elementary School Sendangmulyo 04 Semarang.The type of research used was analytic survey with case control survey design. The sample in this study amounted to 122 samples, 61 as case group and 61 as control group and taken by purposive sampling. Data analysis was done by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis, Spearman Rank Correlation test to know the relation between independent variable with dependent variable and test of cause factor analysis with Odd Ratio.The result of statistical test showed that mother's behavior about self-care of oral and dental health has a significant relationship with dental caries incidence in children and mother's behavior is a risk factor for dental caries in children, where knowledge (p = 0.046 and OR = 2.089), behavior (p = 0.001 and OR = 3.377), action (p = 0,000 and OR = 4,235). It shows that there is a relationship between mother's behavior about self-care of oral and dental health of children with dental caries events in the students of State Elementary School Sendangmulyo 04 Semarang year 2017
