In the case of unpolarized 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry, a method is described which provides the equivalent random powder spectrum for any sample, with any hyperfine interaction. The spectrum is recorded while the sample is rotated stepwise within a plane lying at 35.3° from the radiation direction.
