Experiments are carried out where the free nuclear precession echoes of one spin system (A) is observed at a given frequency, while a different excitation frequency is applied to another species of nuclei (B) in the same sample. The (B) species is dipole-dipole coupled to the( A) species, and the resonance excitation of (B) is detected in terms of the change in relaxation times of the observed (A) species. Various mechanisms for induced (A)-(B) couplings are found.
