The Electromagnetic Calorimeter (ECAL) is one of the particle detectors of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). For more than ten years, the CMS ECAL Detector Control System (DCS) and the CMS ECAL Safety Systems (ESS) have supported the experiment operation, contributing to its high availability and safety. The evolution of both systems to fulfil new requirements and constraints, in addition to optimizations towards improving usage and processes automation, led to several changes to their original design.
