We consider in parallel three self-similar quasiperiodic tilings of the plane with eight-fold symmetry, made of two prototiles, the square and the 45-degree rhomb. They possess the same inflation rules up to a reordering of the tiles. We study the consequences of this reordering on the nature of the atomic surfaces, or acceptance domains, and on the Fourier spectra of the tilings. For two of the tilings the atomic surface has a fractal boundary. For one of them it is not a connected set. We argue that the situation described in this paper is generic.
